Rohos Mini Drive Editor's Review

With their increasing capacity, convenience and capability, USB flash drives are getting more popular each day. We widely use them to carry around personal information, pictures, documents, or to store sensitive data backups.

I personally carry on my USB flash drive some portable tools and utilities (data / system recovery tools, anti-viruses, etc) because I’m frequently asked by friends and family to fix their computers problems. I also carry personal stuff like pictures, work documents and so on, which I want to access wherever I am.

Of course, all the convenience offered by the USB flash drive comes at a price. Due to the small size, it is very easy to misplace it or loose it and risk your privacy and security in case it "falls" in wrong hands.

One of the best way that I found to protect my sensitive data stored on my USB flash drive is using Rohos Mini Drive. This application can easily password protect the USB flash drive by making an encrypted partition which will contain all the sensitive data, so you won't have to worry about privacy in case you lose the flash drive.

To get started, you'll have to install the application onto your computer, open the program and hit 'Setup USB Key' while your Flash drive is plugged in. Next, you have to choose a password for the partition and some other optional details such as the size of partition, file system and so on. After that, have patience because the encryption process might take more then 10 minutes.

Once done, you will have a file called 'Rohos mini.exe' sitting on your USB flash drive. Launch it to access the new partition which now exists on your flash drive or anytime you plug in the flash drive into a computer.

Pluses: Very easy to use; you can uninstall the application from the computer once you made the encrypted drive because all you need will be stored on the flash drive without having to access the program installed on your computer.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: Both simple and effective, I recommend this application to all of you who carry personal information on their USB flash drives.
